Oh, our teacher kind of told us to do that...Add a wash, take a comb/unconventional brush, dip it in ink, and make the background interesting with it. It creates a nice effect, but the issue of the ink spilling into the foreground is a bit difficult to manage.
Really? It is a very nice effect. Backgrounds are such trouble anyway. Woah, I would be so nervous while applying it. I'm always scared to mess everything up when I add to a nice piece.
